Welcome to the EuroPol website
Let’s give politics back its glamour!
EuroPol is a partner-based project supported under the European Life Long Learning
Programme for two years.
The general aim of the project is to raise interest in politics; that is to say
in traditional politics, with voting, debates, ideological choice and decision-making.
People will understand how to relate to traditional politics without fear or
disgust, how their belonging to a community gives them both political
rights and duties, how these rights and duties can be exercised
and why they must be taken seriously. By using a common European
view on political participation the project will also strengthen the sense of belonging
to a shared European political community, a particular challenge in the context
of the enlargement process EU is undergoing and of the increasing distance that
the majority put between themselves and the European institutions. We hope to achieve
that by upgrading traditional education techniques and making thus politics attractive
and interesting to adults, young and old. The impact will be slow to begin with,
but through mainstreaming of the materials the long-terms effect will be a return
of the citizen into the political debate that is the foundation of
democracy.
